If your cancer treatment included invasions to your lymph nodes (such as an axillary lymph node dissection or a sentinel lymph node biopsy), you need to be aware of the possible long-term effects of lymph node surgery. These include:
Lymphedema – A potentially painful swelling in the arm or chest that happens when the removal of lymph nodes blocks the normal drainage of excess fluid in the arms.
Limited arm and shoulder movement – Luckily, the right exercise after breast cancer surgery can help prevent permanent movement problems, such as a “frozen shoulder.” Even if your lymph nodes were cut but not removed, this cutting can still leave you with scar tissue that limits your range of motion.
Compromised immune system – If lymph nodes were removed, you can be left with a compromised lymphatic system, which in turn can compromise your immune system.
Alicethenics was designed to help address all of these issues, by increasing the upper and lower lymphatic flow and improving flexibility, range of motion and overall blood circulation.
